Next time you need to say, ‘congrats’, ‘thank-you’, ‘well done’, or ‘I’m sorry’ give one of these flower-power florists in Hong Kong a call. Many are pros at weddings and large events and they all do bouquets too. I could spend hours on their Instagram accounts so apologies in advance if you fall down the rabbit hole too. Oh, and this post is just in time for Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day too, what a coincidence…
Sharon Leddel – Tomasina Designs
Sharon serves up creative seasonal arrangements of all shapes and sizes and counts fashion designers and global art galleries as clients. You can be guaranteed no two bouquets or events will ever look the same. She’s a excellent at everything from ‘prim and proper’ arrangements to ‘wild and undone’ installations and you can guarantee she’ll have some fresh ideas to bring to the table too. I was stuck in a white-hydrangea rut until she introduced me to her colourful creations.

Gemma Hayden Blest – Hayden Blest
Floral Designer Gemma worked at Alexander McQueen and Burberry before changing her medium from fabric to flowers. She famously transformed the Pawn’s rooftop into a secret garden for an event and also works closely with editors in Hong Kong and LA to bring their ideas to life. Perfect if you need a pro who can combine fashion and floristry to produce events, installations, backdrops, sets or just a one-off individual piece. Note: Gemma is in LA until May.

Joyce Li – JF Floral Couture
Joyce’s work first came to my attention when her team turned a balcony into the hanging gardens of Babylon at the Lululemon Hong Kong launch party. Everything that comes out of the JF Floral Couture studio is new and different, ensuring no two events ever look the same. They do everything from botanical walls to traditional wedding bouquets beautifully and have worked with Dior Couture, Cartier and Jo Malone to name a few clients.

I worked with Ellermann on a large wedding event at the Upper House and everything from their creative direction to execution was flawless, just like their flowers. Perfect if you’re looking for something decadent. PS- Joyce on the team is a joy to work with too!
